(26 April 2017 – Hong Kong) New World Department Store China Limited (“NWDS” or the “Company”; Hong Kong stock code: 825), one of the largest owners and operators of department stores in Mainland China, is pleased to announce that the Company’s FY2016 Annual Report and Sustainability Report garnered the Honors Award in the “Annual Reports - Covers: Artistic” category and the Bronze Award in the “Annual Reports - Covers: Illustrations” category respectively in the 2017 Astrid Awards. These accolades fully demonstrate the Company’s dedication and successful efforts in lifting the quality of its corporate publications.

Inspired by the innovative corporate branding of “The Artisanal Movement”, NWDS’ FY2016 Annual Report sets its theme on “The Artisanal Theory of Happiness”. Its cover features elegant carving patterns against a timber-colored and woodgrain-textured background. The debossing effect used enhances the cover’s depth and substance, delivering an enriched sensation to the readers so that they can resonate with the Company’s artisanal spirit. The sophisticated ideas are executed through artistic finesse, as a result, brought honors to the Company once again.

The Company’s sustainability reports, on the other hand, have always been an industrial pioneer. The third standalone report published in 2016 continued to uphold the “people-oriented” spirit. With the theme of“A Happiness-packed Gift Box to All”, the cover features the delivery of a gift box, which is filled with the Company’s achievements and results from various sustainability initiatives, at the doorsteps of its stakeholders awaiting them to sign for receipt and consume in details. The report makes use of vibrant colors and creative illustrations to present the progress of the Company’s sustainability initiatives, depicting a full picture of NWDS’ sustainability work.

The Astrid Awards was founded by MerComm, Inc., an American independent awards organization, in 1991 to recognize outstanding corporate publications. Entries are judged in three rounds by international panels of design and art professionals on the basis of design concept, creativity, effectiveness and production quality. The Awards are widely recognized in industries all over the world for its stringent judging criteria.
