(29 Aug 2016 – Hong Kong) New World Department Store China Limited (“NWDS” or the “Company”; Hong Kong stock code: 825), one of the largest owners and operators of department stores in Mainland China, is pleased to announce that its FY2015 Annual Report won a list of accolades from the 2016 International ARC Awards, including the Silver Award in the category of “Cover Photo/Design in Retail: Convenience & Dept. Stores”, the Honors Award in the category of “Interior Design in Retail: Convenience & Dept. Stores”, and the Honors Award in the category of “Traditional Annual Report in Retail: Convenience & Dept. Stores”. This is the ninth year in a roll that NWDS received recognition from the International ARC Awards – a testament that the design and contents of its annual report have been globally top-notch.

With the theme of “Happy Shopping”, NWDS’ FY2015 Annual Report features smiley bubbles and elegant pearl on its cover to embody the exciting and memorable experience customers have when shopping at NWDS, adhering to its customer-oriented operating approach. It precisely conveys the key information including operating conditions, business performance, overall strategies and future prospects during the year under review. The report embraces the Company’s sustainability belief and is produced with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified paper and soy ink to mitigate the possible impacts to the environment.

Organized by the American MerComm, Inc., the International ARC Awards made its debut in 1987; it has since been regarded as one of the world’s largest international annual report contests and reputed as the “Academy Awards of Annual Reports” by media agencies. The panel of judges assessed entries according to creativity in design, clarity in the narrative, effectiveness in elaboration and excellence in performance, attaching much importance to cover design, Chairman’s statement, interior design, clarity of written text, presentation of corporate information, expression of financial data, and how well the spirit of the organization is communicated. All shortlisted entries undergo stringent selection. The open, independent and fair assessment process is widely recognized by the industry and the public at large.
