(7 April 2014 – Hong Kong) New World Department Store China Limited (“NWDS” or the “Company”; Hong Kong stock code: 825), one of the largest owners and operators of department stores in the PRC, is pleased to announce that NWDS garnered the honor of the “Best Investor Relations Company” in the 4th Asian Excellence Recognition Awards; additionally, the Company’s FY2013 annual report received the Silver Award in the category of “Annual Reports: Interior Design – Traditional Format” and the Bronze Award in the category of “Annual Reports: Overall Presentation – Department Store” in 2013/14 MERCURY Awards, recognizing our outstanding performance in corporate communications and investor relations.
The Asian Excellence Recognition Awards organized by Corporate Governance Asia, the most authoritative journal on corporate governance in the region, aims to acknowledge Asian public and private companies’ achievements and excellence in the aspects of corporate governance, financial performance, corporate social responsibility, environmental practices and investor relations. The screening exercise took more than 11 months to complete and the awardees were selected based on readers’ votes and investors’ ratings from interviews. NWDS highly values its relationship with investors. Through diversified communication channels such as analyst meetings, analysts and media results briefings, roadshows and corporate website, coupled with the Company’s comprehensive disclosure mechanism, we respond to investors’ enquiries in a timely manner to give investors more transparency to the Company’s business performance and development strategy; therefore, facilitating the establishment of a long-term and close relations. The report breaks with tradition and embraces the Company’s sustainability belief by producing it with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified paper and soy ink, mitigating the possible impacts to the environment. The report is widely recognized by judges of the MERCURY Awards and won the Bronze Award in the category of “Annual Reports: Overall Presentation – Department Store” once again. It also garnered the Silver Award in the category of “Annual Reports: Interior Design – Traditional Format” among all entries from different sectors, demonstrating the Company’s excellence in corporate communications was endorsed internationally.
