30 Contestants of “The 1st NWDS Spokesperson” Final Contest Nationwide Voting Starts – Take the Opportunity to Win Total Gift Vouchers Worth Over RMB 88,000

(18 May 2010 – Hong Kong) New World Department Store China Limited (“NWDS” or the “Company”; Hong Kong stock code: 825), one of the largest owners and operators of department stores in the PRC, is pleased to announce that 30 contestants of “The 1st NWDS Spokesperson” final contest have been successfully selected. The ceremonious final contest will be held in Beijing on 26 June 2010, 1 male and 1 female spokesperson will be selected, they will be awarded 1-year spokesperson contract which worths a total of RMB 600,000 prize, entitling to participate VIP activities organized by over 30 stores of NWDS, be the cover models of “Best of New World” magazine and embracing media interviews. In addition, 1st runner-up, 2nd runner-up, The Most Photogenic Award, Individual Talent Award and Audience Favorite Award will be presented, making the event more exciting.

There will be in-store customer voting and online polling for the final contest with voting period starting from 15 May to 19 June. Customers can cast their votes at over 30 stores of NWDS or access to online polling at Sohu website (http://women.sohu.com/s2009/nwds/) during the voting period. In-store customer voting and public online polling will account for 10% of the total rating of the final contest respectively, 60% will be from the judge on site, and the remaining 20% will come from on site voting of Platinum VIP, business partners, guests and media. In addition, participants of in-store customer voting and online polling can participate in a lucky draw, and have the opportunity to win gift vouchers worth over RMB 88,000 in total. VIP and Platinum VIP who win in the lucky draw will be presented with additional gift vouchers. VIP members take part in the polling with purchase at store during the voting period can enjoy double bonus points of their purchase while platinum VIP members can receive triple bonus points. The competition is fully supported by our sponsors, including Chow Tai Fook, Esprit, Stage 89, L’Oreal Paris and Belle, making the contest to be more vigorous.

In line with the rebranding program of NWDS, “The 1st NWDS Spokesperson” Contest has been holding nationwide since last July, arousing close attention from all citizens over China as well as attracting more than 21,000 stylish and fashionable male and female applied to be our spokesperson. The selection process of the 1st NWDS Spokesperson is very rigorous so as to choose the most desirable spokesperson. The primary screening took place in more than 30 stores of NWDS, and semi-final was held regionally across the 5 regions, including Northeastern China, Southwestern China, Northern China, Eastern China and Central China, with a total of 3 male and 3 female representatives from each region culled to compete in the final contest.

In order to select the most eligible and outstanding spokesperson, the primary screening and semi-final involved various sections to examine the talents of applicants such as self introduction, talent performance and Q & A section so as to exhibit their unique personalities, modern and stylish characteristics, and demonstrate their enthusiasm on distinctive living style.

For the sake of fully manifesting the best attributes and delivering the special personalities of 30 contestants in the final contest, an intensive and all-rounded training will be provided, including Latin dance training, personal styling, costume selection and demonstration, catwalk and manner training as well as show rehearsal, which will be taught by our professional team, composing of International Ballroom Dance instructor, professional stylist and trendy & beauty experts.
