Staff Benefits and Development

NWDS believes that talent development plays a vital role in the success of corporate sustainable development. To foster relationship with our fellow staff, NWDS also holds staff-caring activities frequently to enhance corporate coherence.

2011
Certificate Program of Further Studies in Retail Operation and Management

In July 2011, the Company launched a retail operation management course, “Certificate Program of Further Studies in Retail Operation and Management”, comprising integrated retails operation knowledge with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, for which over 40 employees at or above the associate manager level throughout the Company attended. In addition, with respect to customer service, the Company conducted the “Customer Service TTT Course” in Beijing in August 2011 aiming of cultivating more trainers for front-line operation so as to strengthen customer service.

Project Xinpeng-NWDS Management Intern Cultivation 2011

The Company has always put staff training as a key focus and officially launched “Project Xinpeng-NWDS Management Intern Cultivation 2011” in March 2011. One hundred management trainees from Shenyang, Harbin, Beijing, Wuhan, Shanghai and Chengdu joined the big family of New World Department Store.

Helping Employees with Special Difficulties

In June 2011, the trade union of the Company’s Shanghai area granted urgent relief money to employees of the nine stores in Shanghai who were facing special difficulties. A total of 35 employees received relief from this activity. In May 2011, stores in Northern District initiated to raise the medical expenses for the hospitalized daughter of our employee of Administrative Department of Lanzhou Store. Employees actively responded to such call and offered financial aid for the medical expenses.

Paying Attention to the Voice of Staff by Establishing General Manager Mail Box

NWDS placed “General Manager Mail Boxes” at the staff canteens of all stores and offices and set up an email inbox to create an efficient, democratic and innovative working atmosphere. Dedicated personnel are assigned to periodically collect, record, follow up and reply to correspondence in the mail boxes and the email inbox to stay in touch with the voice of the staff. At the same time, the Company launched the “NWDS New Culture: Creative Operation Concepts Reward Program”, which lasted from May 2011 to September 2012. During this Program, the Company conducted creative concept consolidation activities on different subjects in different periods and give corresponding rewards to pre-eminent proposals. The activities gave all staff opportunities to voice out their thinking, contribute their wisdom and grow with the Group.
