NWDS held the fifth “Green Mid-Autumn Festival- Moon Cake Box Recycling Campaign” from 26 September to 9 October 2015 and successfully collected over 2,800 redundant moon cake boxes, totaling about 25,000 boxes over the years. To further advocate waste utilization, a serious of workshops and exhibitions featuring green lanterns were held this year and well received by customers with over 700 participants, successfully seeding the message of environmental protection in customers.

In September 2014, NWDS held its fourth nationwide environmental activity, “Green Mid-Autumn Festival – Moon Cake Box Recycling Campaign”, and utilized both online and offline channels to carry out the promotions, as a result, collecting nearly 3,600 moon cake boxes successfully, totaling over 22,000 boxes over the years. This year, the first-ever “Moon Cake Box Creative Design Competition” was held to encourage the public to create arts and crafts from idle moon cake boxes in an attempt to further disseminate the message of resources regeneration. The competition received about 420 entries and over 2,600 people casted their votes through physical stores and NWDS CSR Weibo, successfully promoting waste recycling.

NWDS had especially organized a meaningful Mid-Autumn Festival. The Company organized the “Green Mid-Autumn Festival –Moon Cake Box Recycling Campaign”, a nationwide environmental activity, for the third consecutive year from 17 to 30 September, encouraged customers to join us to build a green festival by donating approximately 3,500 moon cake boxes for recycling into renewable resources.

To promote green office environment and paperless operation, Hong Kong New World Department Store – Shanghai Chengshan Branch Store organized two office automation system training sessions in September 2013. The courses included demonstration video, presentations by professionals and practical exercises to enable colleagues to quickly familiarize with the system. Automation is a good way to improve office efficiency and lessen printing demand, therefore, it plays an important role in reducing the carbon footprint associated with office operation.
