(12 Sep 2011 – Hong Kong) New World Department Store China Limited (“NWDS” or the “Company”; Hong Kong stock code: 825), one of the largest owners and operators of department stores in the PRC announced that the first station of “Super Stars’ Memorable Collections Exhibition” in Beijing Store for four days drew a huge crowd of people and received numerous positive reviews.
The five stations of the exhibition include Beijing Store, Shanghai Baoshan Branch Store, Tianjin Store, Shenyang Zhonghua Road Branch Store and Harbin Store of NWDS in 5 cities. Beijing Store as the opening station of the exhibition has been successfully held on 8 September to 11 September 2011. The exhibition showcased nearly 100 pieces of rare pieces from legendary Hollywood celebrities such as Michael Jackson, Princess Diana, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Bruce Lee and Madonna etc. in China for the first time. To closely experience the super stars’ elegant demeanor, customers enthusiastically lined up to get the ticket.
On the first day of the exhibition, a kick-off ceremony was held in Beijing Store where the representatives from NWDS, Ponte 16 Resort, Macau and Julien's Auctions marked the occasion by completing a handprint ceremony. Michael Jackson’s white rhinestone glove, the highlighted exhibit showed up to the audience right afterwards, which became the focus immediately. The exhibition was then opened to public after the photo shooting section for the main organizers. In order to recall the public’s memories for those legendary stars, a group of body art performers were invited on the first day of the event to imitate Michael Jackson. A serious of iconic MJ moonwalk steps were performed and gathered a huge crowd of customers, pushing the atmosphere to the highest point. The exhibition even attracted a group of MJ fans to witness MJ’s collections of more than 30 rare pieces which showed in China for the first time.
Besides, NWDS has arranged an exclusive section for media and its Platinum VIP members respectively. Marilyn Monroe, the legendary sexy icon, her collection of a green dress from the film “River of No Return” and her pearl necklace became the popular spots for the VIP members. The favorite pieces of the media and the public included the gown wore by Princess Diana in 1985, a jacket worn by Bruce Lee, as well as an Elvis Presley signed guitar, which drew most of the attention and made them the hottest photo taking spots. The third and the fourth day of the exhibition was weekend, thus attracted lots of families and young people. During the exhibition, Ponte 16 Resort, Macau provided 20 nights of accommodation as the lucky draw prizes, making it the most rewarding event for the participants.
The second station of the exhibition will be held in Shanghai Baoshan Branch Store on 15 September to 18 September. 9 stores in Shanghai will invite a professional cosplay team to perform the “Celebrities Cosplay Show”. What’s more, a series of fabulous activities will be also held at Tianjin Store, Shenyang Zhonghua Road Branch Store and Harbin Store during the exhibition there.
